How did you find your way to BLE Locking?
It all started when a small startup called askRobin decided to close down. I was the lead developer there who built up the first versions of the software and ended up being a product owner and a CTO at the same time. After the decision to close down the company in the beginning of 2022 I started to search for a new challenge for myself.
After 2 months of talking to different companies, I picked 2 companies that I liked the most. In my mind I had already made a decision, when suddenly Ainar Nurk contacted me and talked about BLE Locking and the challenges. I was charmed how our first interviews went and even though the idea to lead a smart locks product scared me, I really wanted a change from the fintech sector which I had been a part of the last 10 years.
Smart locks intrigued me because I have felt interest in smart homes for many years. I like renovating and updating my house and I have always joked that if I would not be in the IT sector I would be working in the construction sector. The smart locks business seems perfect in that sense. It has physical products, IT systems and we all need locks. I see a huge potential in smart locks and an even bigger potential in the related digital systems. I am sure that we are going to build really valuable solutions for the customers.
The challenge
I dream that one day I won’t need physical keys at all and opening doors and managing accesses would be simpler than ever. Smart locks and digital keys enable us to achieve this goal. Managing all the digital keys and locks can be a nightmare without a good product and UX. I promise to solve this issue so that managing all the digital keys, accesses and locks will be simpler than ever and be a normal part of everyday life.
