We at BLE Locking are happy to welcome a new colleague, Marvin Helstein!
Marvin is taking on the role of Lead Software Developer on our journey to bring more development-related roles in-house.
See what he had to say about himself š
Tell us a little bit about yourself
Since I can remember, I have enjoyed playing video games, and during my middle school time, I was working with game servers – creating plugins for servers and setting up forums. That’s where my interest in software development came from.
How did you find your way to BLE Locking?
Last year I had to go to the obligatory military service that lasted for 11 months. During that time I got a few different job offerings for when I would get out of the service – most of them focused on developing different web services. However, when Oliver called and asked me if I would like to join a company that creates smart locks, I got very interested.
He got my attention because during my studies of Computer Science in Viljandi Vocational Training Center and Tallinn University, I came to realize that I like creating software that works closely together with hardware, something that I can touch. I guess that is one of the reasons I really liked robotics classes at school and why I am trying to get more into robotics as a hobby.
BLE Locking is a good opportunity for me to get into smart home solutions. The house where I live in is quite dumb, in the sense that it has no smart home devices in it, maybe these locks will be the first step into making my home smarter.
How has the company treated you so far?
The first weeks at BLE Locking have been quite amazing: meeting the team, getting to play with the BLE products, and learning how it all works, everything is fresh and new. Since Oliver and I have previous experience working together, I hope that I will benefit the company as a whole and increase our pace for bringing out improvements and new solutions to the market. I’m excited for what the future brings!
